Annotated Bibliography of Indian Medicine http://indianmedicine.eldoc.ub.rug.nl/

Annotated Bibliography of Indian Medicine (ABIM) and Electronic Journal of Indian Medicine (EJIM), was created by Roelf Barkhuis and the Digital Library team of the Groningen University Library, Netherlands.
ABIM: At present the bibliography contains between 30,000 and 40,000 items. A number of summaries of articles from various periodicals are included.
EJIM: The issues of the EJIM published online regularly when sufficient suitable material is available. The articles of each volume will appear yearly in print and on the free website.
1.    Search for ABIM
‘*’ functions as a substitute for a character sequence.
For example place * sign at the end of a term to search for all terms that begin with that word; for instance Ayur* will find all terms that begin with the letters Ayur; e.g., Ayurveda, Ayurvedic, etc
‘?’ is a substitute for one character.
For example: b?ll searches for ball, bell, bill, etc.

medIND :Full text articles indexed in IndMed are available through MedIND. This database gives full text of 38 journals indexed in IndMed (http://medind.nic.in/).
This database is a non-commercial web-site funded by Govt. of India and jointly managed by National Informatics Centre (Department of Information Technology) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Two types of searches in this database

1.    Simple search

The searching can be done by entering the search terms in to the box.  Boolean operators (AND, OR, and NOT) can be used if search is done by using multiple search terms.
2.    Advanced search
Four search columns are available in this search. Boolean Operators are AND, OR, and NOT are available to connect each search terms.
Truncation: Truncation means finding all terms that begin with a given text string. Place a dollar ($) sign at the end of a term to search for all terms that begin with that word; for instance Ayur$ will find all terms that begin with the letters Ayur; e.g., Ayurveda, Ayurvedic, etc.
To search MeSH terms along with Subheadings use hyphen "-". At the moment 75 MeSH keywords are listed in this database

The NML is to provide wide and efficient library and information services to the health science (HS) professionals in India.
National Medical Library has 3.6 lakh volumes of books, reports, bound volume of journals and other literature and adds about 3000 latest books and serials every year. It also subscribes to 2000 current periodicals. The library has good collection of 19th century literature. Books collection is divided into pre-1977 and 1977-onwards, and is classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Bound volumes of journals are divided into upto-1990 and post-1990.
NML has set up a network of health science libraries in India. It has with the support from WHO, 6 Regional Medical Library (RML) and 8 Resource Medical Libraries (RL) in the country

NML provides the consortium in which the medical journals can be purchased in group. Traditional Knowledge Digital Library is a knowledge repository of the Indian traditional knowledge. Data on 81,200 formulations in Ayurveda, 1,09,550 in Unani, 12,250 in Siddha and Yoga in 800 had already been put in the TKDL, and available in five languages — English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese. The Government of India established TKDL to enable the Patent Office’s all over the world to search and examine any prevalent use/prior art, and thereby prevent incorrect grant of patent on products/processes based on knowledge in public domain.
This database is created by CSIR in collaboration with DST.
Simple Search
Multiple search terms including keywords, diseases and IPC codes can be simultaneously searched along with operators such as 'and', 'and not', 'near' and 'or'. The use of operators like 'and' shall narrow down the search results and avoid large number of irrelevant results. More than one term can be searched for as a whole by the use of quotation marks, e.g. 'anti-wrinkle and guggulu'.
Advanced Search
This option allow use of operators such as 'and' and 'or' as well as use of options such as 'should contain' and should not contain'. Appropriate terms of these options may be used to get more accurate results. A complete search query may contain at least five search term simultaneously including Keywords /IPC Code /Title /Bibliographic Code/Disease, each individually specified.

The China TCM Patent Database was established by Patent Data Research and Development Center (PDC), a part of The Intellectual Property Publishing House of State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of China. The original purpose of creating this database was to meet the increasing need of patent examination.
Two types of search options are in this database.
1.    Quick Search
The QUICK SEARCH provides three choices of date, i.e. the application date, the publication date, and the update date. Users can define the search to any one of the three by clicking the corresponding name from the pull-down list.
Then enter the keyword in search column.
2.    Advanced Search
There are 3 steps to submit a query using the Advanced Search
  • Select a year or scope of years to search in the Select Years Entry box. There are three time selections in the pull-down menu: (a) Application year; (b) Publication year; (c) Database update year.

IBIDS is collaboration between two US government agencies: the ‘Office of Dietary Supplements’ of the National Institutes of Health, and the Food and ‘Nutrition Information Center (FNIC)’ of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Library (NAL).
There are over 760,000 citations on the topic of dietary supplements from four major database sources, i.e. biomedical-related articles from MEDLINE, botanical and agricultural science from AGRICOLA, worldwide agricultural literature through AGRIS, and coverage of international applied life sciences literature from CAB Abstracts and CAB Global Health.

Multiple options are available to limit the search (references) i.e. All IBIDS references, Consumer references, Peer reviewed references to get the relevant studies.
Boolean operators
For AND use the + sign.

For NOT use the – sign.
Eg: Ayurveda -siddha
There is no need of using OR operator. Default search using both term together will give citations of both.

Basic Search
Options are available to find articles on the basis of Subject, Author, Call number, Journal title, SuDoc number, Name/title, Series/Uniform title, Command search.

Advanced Search
Boolean operators will be used in searches. To search several words at once, Boolean operator must be used between each word. ‘Limit’ options are available for Language, Location, Date, Medium, Item type, Place of publications, Publication status.
